Position Purpose:
Lindt & Sprüngli is an internationally renowned chocolate company. Due to strong growth in North America, there is now an opening for a Safety, Health, & Environmental Intern at Lindt & Sprüngli (USA) in Stratham, New Hampshire. The person we seek will be involved in our continued efforts to take our Safety and Environmental programs to the next level consistent with the growth and expansion of Lindt. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to get hands on experience with many of the OSHA and EPA programs required in this field. Areas of involvement will include hazardous communications, lockout/tag out, machine guarding, personal protective equipment, ergonomics, chemical management, air emission accounting, and wastewater treatment.
What To Expect as a Lindtern:
Our twelve-week Lindternship program offers hands-on experience allowing undergraduate and graduate students to gain practical skills and contribute to projects that directly impact our business. During the summer, interns will be paired with a mentor, attend professional career development workshops/sessions and attend networking events to meet additional team members.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Safety:
- Assists in fine tuning Lindt Safety Programs.
- Review and update existing Safety procedures for regulatory accuracy and applicability to expanding facility.
- Perform department safety inspections.
- Perform Job Safety Analysis on new and existing production equipment.
Health:
- Conduct noise measures to ensure that Lindt employees are wearing correct PPE.
- Conduct building air monitoring to ensure in-door air quality.
- Review Departmental chemical usage to assure correct PPE is available and used.
- Perform Ergonomic Analysis on production equipment and in office settings
Environmental:
- Assists in collecting and recording environmental data used for permit compliance.
- Performs facility environmental audits to assure compliance with environmental permits and standards.
- Trains department employees on waste chemical management and monitors compliance.
- Monitors chemical waste storage and assures that spill equipment and materials are available.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience:
- Prior internship and/or Project focused process and results oriented positions
- Demonstrated proficiency with a computer and with MS software
Skills & Knowledge:
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail orientated.
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Must have solid written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, FDA, DOT, NHDES regulations preferred.
Education:
- Senior pursuing a degree in EHS field or Engineering/Science.
