Position Purpose:

The individual in this position is responsible for developing the Lindt USA seasonal sales business at Walmart. This person strives to achieve and/or exceed projected Walmart strategic account sales goals, driven by both Walmart strategy, as well as key insights and analytics. In addition, this person is responsible for ensuring Lindt USA is building on our collaborative partnership with Walmart, achieving company sales and profitability objectives, and developing and growing team talent, all while striving to optimize efficiencies and cultivate incremental sales opportunities with Walmart.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

National Sales & Account Management

  • Establish strong, trusted and collaborative relationships with Walmart to achieve aligned profitable and accelerated seasonal sales growth for Lindt and Sprüngli USA; optimize the company's competitive position, while continually sourcing new business opportunities to achieve or exceed sales plan.
  • Render high-level, strategic presentations (external and internal) to drive sustained and profitable seasonal sales growth.
  • Build and maintain accurate forecasts to ensure delivery of the appropriate seasonal product to Walmart in a timely and efficient manner to achieve sales and profit targets, while remaining within budgetary guidelines.
  • Build, develop, and execute the Walmart seasonal business plan while leveraging Lindt & Sprüngli USA resources (category management, customer marketing, Scintilla, sales analytics, supply chain/logistics); business plan execution includes relentless focus and management of promotional and non-promotional trade-spending with accountability to annual budget, and high-level P&L acumen.
  • Ensure Walmart seasonal merchant team needs are met without compromising the defined Lindt & Sprüngli USA market channel strategy; market and sell products appropriate to the channel as defined within strategy guidelines.
  • Partner with the Walmart seasonal merchant team to develop and execute seasonal programming; including but not limited to seasonal modular and off-shelf displays, promotions, endcaps, and optimized seasonal inventory allocations at retail.
  • Maintain effective and timely internal communication with key stakeholders to ensure adjustments to customer strategies are understood, and available resources deployed efficiently.
  • Lead, develop, and coach a direct reporting and seasons-specific Key Account Specialist, supporting the Walmart seasonal business with data, reporting, analytics, and insights.

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Consistently achieve sales goals and profitability while operating within budgetary constraints to contribute to the overall profitability of Lindt & Sprüngli USA.
  • Develop and recommend annual budget requirements to ensure plans are compelling, financially coherent, feasible and clearly communicated within the organization
  • Develop and achieve accurate rolling sales forecasts to optimize production planning and product availability
  • Responsible for ensuring the effective utilization of trade promotion funds to align with Walmart strategic growth objectives; fully document support plans in trade system and ensure timely tracking of deductions and claims
  • Continuously seek collaborative profitability optimization initiatives with the Walmart seasonal merchant team
  • Within scope of responsibility, respond to and assist with keeping customer markdowns and waste to a minimum, and maintain customer compliance with payment terms.

Product Knowledge

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Lindt & Sprüngli USA product catalog and pipeline in order to optimize sales efforts and guarantee customer focused, fact-based selling; remain up to date with new product initiatives, strategies and other relevant information of interest to Walmart.
  • Stay abreast and communicate competitive activity within Walmart, enabling Lindt & Sprüngli USA to react accordingly.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Prior national account sales management experience/ownership
  • Strong interpersonal and fact-based selling skills; self-motivated and results oriented
  • Highly collaborative and relationship-focused; ability to develop strong trust and partnerships with the Walmart merchant team, as well as internal Lindt & Sprungli USA cross-functional teams
  • Possess strong strategic problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Ability to leverage data and insights (including Scintilla) to build compelling and profitable seasonal growth strategies
  • Ability to develop accurate rolling forecasts
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical and formal presentation skills
  • Creativity and understanding of product development process

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree: Masters in related field preferred

Total Rewards:

Compensation Range: $117,000.00-151,000.00

Lindt USA’s salary range reflects market rates based on our size, revenue, and location. Starting pay is determined using a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience as well as market conditions. A bonus and/or long-term incentive may be included as part of this compensation package.
